Coins: A Way to understand Indian Heritage
Grade IX students of Delhi Public School, Nashik visited the Coin Museum. Trained researchers specialized in different numismatic periods delivered a brief account of the artifacts used in the early medieval, medieval and late medieval period to the students. This information helped the students to understand the sources of learning and studying history.
The museum showcases a large number of coins, bronze statues, terracotta pots, ancient jewellery etc. It also includes three models which demonstrate the evolution of Mint from manual to mechanical. The students were amazed to know about the four Coin Minters in India: Mumbai with a symbol of diamond, Delhi with a symbol of s rounded dot, Hyderabad with a symbol of a star and Kolkata with no symbol. The visit offered the students an insight to discover the rich hidden heritage of India.
